In June, the first face-to-face meeting of the international consortium of the InnoCSA – Innovations for Climate Smart Agriculture project took place in Perugia, Italy. The meeting, hosted by CIA Agricoltori Italian of Umbria brought together all participating project partners from Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Spain.
The primary focus of our meeting was to outline the specific project deliverables. In particular, we extensively discussed the first output, which entails creating educational materials for farmers on the subject of climate-smart agriculture. We identified relevant topics to be incorporated into the training materials, ensuring they are easily understandable for the broad target audience.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to a practical workshop featuring experts from Perugia and the surrounding region. We delved into the key challenges faced by farmers in each country, explored climate change solutions for smallholder farmers, examined available support options, and discussed how the InnoCSA project can contribute to these solutions. It was unanimously agreed that the project’s role primarily lies in being a partner and an informative resource for farmers and other stakeholders.
On the second day of the meeting, we visited “Cantina Cenci,” a wine-producing farm located near Perugia. In addition to discussing biotechnological practices, we gained insights into the operational and administrative processes encountered by Italian farmers. Subsequently, we visited TeamDev Ecosystem, a technology company that houses the startup AGRICOLUS. This startup aims to provide farmers with valuable data to facilitate their future production planning.
The meeting was highly successful, and we immediately commenced work on the first deliverables. For all updates and information regarding the project’s development, follow our website.
